Early Bronze Age burial ground

Between Kirchheim and Heimstetten, district of Munich, a large area was archaeologically investigated in spring 2020 as part of the large-scale project "Kirchheim 2030". In addition to many other findings, numerous graves from the early Bronze Age (around 1800 BC) were excavated, one of the largest cemeteries in the southern Bavarian region [1] [2]. The more than 40 burials were mostly disturbed, but some grave goods such as robe pins, earrings, disc beads and spiral tutuli were recovered.

The aerial photograph from 05.04.2020 shows the exposed graves before their excavation. Interesting are also the clearly visible rows of posts, which are presumably related to the burials.
